It had been reserved for centuries as the drink of Royalty until finally with the innovations of the Industrial Revolution it was made available to the masses. The history reads much like today’s newspapers. Treasure found, wars fought, taxes levied, riots erupting, love insured, seductions planned, and secrets revealed…. All associated with chocolate, our desire for it and the magical promise it offerswhen consumed.

From its beginning as a lukewarm drink, coarsely ground and flavored with cayenne pepper it has evolved into the wonderfully creamy confection with flavors and shapes limited only by the imagination of the chocolate maker.
